I Want You Receiving Warm Airplay

Source: Reuters / BillBoard- June 8, 2003
TW Correspondent: Luisa

Latin pop princess Thalia, advances 74-67 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop (charts) with "I Want You" featuring another Latino, Fat Joe. "Want" is the lead single from Thalia, her first English album, and is being well-received at R&B radio outlets, even those not in heavily Hispanic markets. The song is receiving airplay on 30% of the entire panel (40% if you exclude the adult-leaning stations that normally shy away from hip-hop titles).

THALIA IS SUPER WONDERFUL!!!

Date: June 8, 2003

(Note: Jacqui is one of the Thalia fans who was lucky enough to see Thalia up close and personal during her visit to Mexico City last week. Here is her story in her own words, translated for the English speakers}

At last now I returned from my Thalyweek here in Mexico City, and now I'm bringing you all the details about what happened.

On Monday which was the day of the meeting, the date was in the Hotel Marriot at 6:00 p.m. and the winners from TV y Novelas had to look for Luis Magaña and he did not arrive. But a lady who apparently was from Thalia's staff told us that before the meeting they were going to admit us to the filming of the program "Black and White", and here we found out that the program would be with Thalia!!!

While they prepared the set and all, Thalia's record was being played and about those which I had never heard I can tell you that I heard "Toda la felicidad" but in the English version, and another in English which truthfully I don't even know what it was called but it sounded really great, with a really motivating rhythm.

How do you know that song? What the internet does :)

Here I was in the second row and wow!!! I was super up close to Thalia and the program was super enjoyable, although I believe that they are going to edit it because that program only lasts a half hour and I feel that they recorded more. My papa even asked a question of Thalia because the guy from the program passed among the audience and said to my papa that he should ask Thalia something. My papa asked Thalia....there were fans from Brazil, Argentina, and the Philippines who were waiting for her and that they wanted to know when she was going to go over there?... but I was so nervous that I don’t remember now what Thalia said!!! hee, hee, hee. The good thing is that next week they are going to show that program and then I will tell you what it was that Thalia said. Those who have Telehit should be sure to not miss it.

(After being asked by several friends on the board at Thalia.com how it was that her father got to ask a question of Thalia, Jacqui explained further: It's that before the program began my papa approached Omar Chaparro (the conductor of the program) and asked him if he was going to interview Thalia and he told him yes! And my papa said, aaaah, can you ask her one question? and Omar told him yes! And then my papa said to him that if he could ask her when she was going to go to Argentina, Brasil, and the Philippines? and Omar asked him, and why does it interest you if you live in Mexico? and then he explained that I had contact with some fans on the internet and that was why. And Omar Chaparro told him that he would definitely ask her that and what's more he thanked him for having submitted that question.

I neither saw nor expected that my papa was doing this because suddenly he stood up without telling me anything and left, and when he returned I asked him, where did you go? And he told me what he did, and then when the program with Thalia was on, suddenly Omar Chaparro stood up and approached the audience and came up to my papa and told him, "Thalia, this gentleman wants to ask you a question," and he gave the microphone to my papa and he asked Thalia!!!

Now my papa is very full of himself because on Otro Rollo he appeared on television and everybody at his work said to him that they saw him, the neighbors, everybody saw him and he is still telling them, "Wait, because I am also going to appear tomorrow on Black and white!!")

Afterwards they admitted us to another salon for the meeting and here they gave us posters and postcards of her new record. When Thaly was supposed to arrive they put on the video of "Me pones sexy" for us. Thalia arrived and she acted super nice, with all of us singing with her "No me enseñaste", and then I don't know who put on the song "Acción y reacción " and we all began to sing and Thalia asked "How is it that you know that song? What the internet does!!!" and she sang it with us and she said, "Alright, but I have to include it in some CD." She was very simple, chatting with us about 40 minutes and suddenly she said that now she had to go. It was then when everybody began to approach in order to get an autograph. I was moving around here in the crowd when suddenly Thalia said "Somebody is wearing my perfume," (and it was me because I have practically bathed in the Thalyperfume, hee, hee, hee) and so I told her that it was me!! She said to me "YOU are wearing it!!" and I told her that I really loved her a lot, or because I was so nervous then I don't remember what I told her. I asked her if she would sign my poster and she told me "Yes, give it here, give it here", and when she signed it for me I thanked her and she pulled me close to say goodbye to me with a kiss!! Wow, she is super wonderful.

Of course the cameras from Televisa were walking around there in the get-together and those of Univision , more specifically from Despierta America, I imagine because Luis Magaña is a reporter for that program.

Who's wearing my perfume? After the meeting with us, Thalia went to a dinner organized by Juan José Origel, and with her were Victor Noriega, Biby Gaytán and Eduardo Capetillo, Itatí Cantoral, all her friends, and Yolanda Andrade, with whom she now is reconciled ;)

But it was definitely great!!!! Wow, on Monday I could not even sleep from emotion and on Tuesday I went to Otro Rollo. We formed a line at 8:00 in the morning and there everybody in the line listened to the live interview with Thalia on (radio station) 97.7. At about 1:00 in the afternoon they gave us some passes in order to get in and they told us to go home and change clothes because we had to dress for a gala because of the finale of "Pesera del Amor". We had to be back in Televisa at 6:30 and we all arrived punctually, but it was raining a lot and they did not let us come in and therefore we got wet and the elegance was being lost, hee, hee, hee.

They also told us that Thalia and the record company had 150 invited guests and that they were about to be seated when we were to be entering the studio. But Adal Ramones, before going on the air, told the guests that the people of Otro Rollo detested having to have special guests because they were not like the public who had waited in line for hours to get in and many times they would not applaud or cooperate and he asked them to cooperate with the program.

Well then, the program began at 9:30 pm and Thalia came out at 10:20 , singing the potpourri of hits that was fantastic. After that she sang "No me enseñaste", "Toda la felicidad", which she sang to all the participants of "La pesera del amor". After that she sang "Cerca de ti", and at the last she sang for the first time "Me pones sexy". There were two blocks of interviews.

The only thing that I did not like was they gave a whole lot of time to "Pesera del amor" and I think that it would have been better to give more time to Thalia.

Something that I liked a lot was that Adal Ramones commented, I don’t remember if it was on the air or during a commercial break, that Thalia was the best Mexican artist and there was no comparison with any other. I also liked that he was respectful and he was the only one who did not ask Thalia about the kidnapping of her sisters. Well, those on "Black and White" didn’t touch on this subject either, but it seemed very good to me for them to respect the silence that Thalia prefers to keep concerning this matter.

And that was all. I found out that yesterday Thalia was buying folk art on Reforma, with Tommy and Ernestina, because they want to start up a business of Mexican folk art in New York. That afternoon, Thalia ate at Restaurante Arroyo with her whole family.

I believe that Thalia returned to New York this morning, but her passage through Mexico was super successful. Something that I would like to comment on is that at the EXA concert I noticed that the people applauded for Thalia like never before!!! I have gone to several radio concerts and they had never applauded so much as on Saturday in the National Auditorium. From the time they said her name we all jumped to our feet and were shouting. So it went very well for Thalia in this visit to Mexico City.

A Total Success

Thalia traveled to Mexico last week and it was a total success! She began her visit to her native Mexico with a performance at the EXA Festival held at the Auditorio Nacional. The auditorium was packed to the gills and it was really moving to see the audience sing along to every song. There she premiered two songs from her new album “Toda La Felicidad” and “Cerca De Ti.” Her fans were so moved by her performance that they surrounded her car as she left the auditorium. Thalia also shot photos for the magazine “Quien” and gave a beautiful and intimate interview.

She then met with the press, appeared on several television shows and had a great time during a meet-and-greet with many of her fans. Thalia was very happy to have had the opportunity to spend a day with them. On her last day of promotion she spent the morning visiting radio stations around the city and spent the night lighting up the screen by appearing on “Otro Rollo.” Thalia performed five songs, including a special medley of remixes, “Toda La Felicidad” and “Cerca De Ti.” She was the grand finale of the show, at which point she premiered the video of her new single, “Me Pones Sexy,” and would you believe me if I told you that the audience left wanting more?!

Thalia Visits Otro Rollo But Gets Pre-empted

México City.- A combination of sweetness, sensuality, and rebelliousness was what Thalía returned to Mexico to present in her first English record. Otro Rollo was the forum which she chose to sing to the Mexicans, after several months of not appearing publicly in the country. She left the audience open-mouthed for her wonderful body, face, and the new youthful image that she projects.

Evocative insignias marked her Otro Rollo appearance As is her custom, the wife of Tommy Mottola made several wardrobe changes, the first one being the most evocative for its insignias. The white shirt top had "Two Ribs Missing" printed on the front, making allusion to what has always been speculated in the press because she has such a tiny waist, while behind, on her pants, it said "Eggs!!!" (Note: the Spanish slang term for certain male body parts).

Thalía’s appearance ran the risk of being pre-empted by the final episode of "La Pesera del Amor 2", since the station was dedicated to that "reality" show for nearly two hours. She only appeared in some cuts, singing one or two songs, until it was after 1:00 a.m., when she sat down in the living room next to Adal Ramones to talk about her record.

(NOTE: That explains why the people wanting to be part of the audience were required to dress very elegantly or they would not be permitted to enter. We can only hope that the entire Otro Rollo show was recorded by Televisa and will be seen in full on Univision and other associated stations without the interruptions.)

Laura Zapata is denounced by her political rival

Laura and other actors running for public office this year. Mexico City. The candidate for federal deputy, Miguel González Compeán, intends to file a denunciation against Laura Zapata for the use of religious symbols, stated the present legislator for the Partido Revolucionario Institucional this Thursday. The two are running for the District 26 position in the Federal District, with Laura representing the Partido Acción National (PAN).

"Laura Zapata is utilizing a rosary in her hand for presenting herself in her political propaganda which she is handing out to all the people. It is expressly prohibited to use religious symbols for this effect," commented the PRI candidate in a press conference.

The denunciation will be placed before the Federal Electoral Institute, since a person who aspires to be a deputy and make laws cannot begin by violating them, said González Compean.

Thalía can't guarantee votes for me, says Laura Zapata

México City.- That Thalía has not participated in her political campaign is something that does not affect Laura Zapata, since the candidate considers that her sister is not a guarantee of votes.

"I believe that the presence of Thalía is a guarantee to fill a stadium, it is a guarantee to fill an auditorium, but I don't believe that the presence of Thalía is a guarantee of a vote to win an election." "I believe that the presence of Thalía is a guarantee to fill a stadium, it is a guarantee to fill an auditorium, but I don't believe that the presence of Thalía is a guarantee of a vote to win an election." declared Zapata in a telephone interview. The actress is competing for Federal Deputy in District 26 of the Federal District, representing the Partido Acción Nacional (PAN) in the elections scheduled for July 6th.

"We have not had an opportunity to talk by telephone nor see each other. It seems that she is already about to leave (from Mexico City). I found out because I suddenly spoke with my mother, but I never made her a formal invitation to participate in my campaign due to all the activities that I have and that she has as well....The answer from her office came mostly through the communications media, and later she confirmed that she loves me, that she adores me, but that she was apolitical."

Laura declared that her sister's husband, Tommy Mottola, was the actual link which brought Thalía into the story, since they asked her if she would like her sister to participate in her political campaign. She had replied that she would have liked to have the singer participate with her.

"I believe in the designs of God and I respect them deeply, because you can already see that when Salma (Hayek) came to help the candidacy of her father for governor of the state of Veracruz, this did not cause him to win either.....If I win, I win.....If I lose, I lose. I do not believe that any political campaign can be based on the popularity of any person," she stated emphatically.

Thalía celebrates with her friends

Mexico City. - Thalía again met with her family and Mexican friends in a dinner organized Monday night by conductor Juan José Origel, which also served so that the actress and Yolanda Andrade forget their disagreements and smooth over the rough spots.

After a day dedicated to interviews and get-togethers with fans, the interpreter of "A Quién le Importa" arrived at a restaurant in Polanco, accompanied by her husband, Tommy Mottola, to celebrate together the good moment she is experiencing. Here they met Itatí Cantoral, Eduardo Santamarina, Montserrat Oliver (Yolanda Andrade's girlfriend and not a personal friend of Thalia's), Carmen Salinas, Bibi Gaytán, Eduardo Capetillo, Estela Moctezuma, Áureo Baqueiro, Víctor Noriega, Salvador Mejía, Beatriz Sheridan and Fabiola Campomanes, among other actors. Also waiting for her were her sisters, her nieces and nephews, and her mother, Yolanda Miranda, with all of whom she toasted for love and health.

"She made a very beautiful toast for love and for liberty," related Yolanda Andrade. The actress and conductor, who had not seen Thalia in eight years, commented that what she most enjoyed from the evening is to have renewed her friendship with the singer, after having attacked each other with wounding statements to the media during a couple of years.

Yolanda Andrade and Monserrat Oliver also attended the party for Thalia on Monday night. "It was a time of 'she said, I said', until one fine day we spoke through the medium of a friend in common, when that with her sisters had happened (the kidnapping), and then we spoke another time. It made me very happy to see her. We were super friends and suddenly a disagreement takes it all away from you. For me, it was a very important night. The best thing is to know to ask pardon, and I said: 'I certainly poured it on'". (Note: Thalia and Yolanda Andrade never had anything like a disagreement that separated them. Thalia simply did not want to have anything to do with her after Yolanda became so openly lesbian that Thalia realized she had no interest in being around her anymore. But she had the good taste to not come right out and say so to the media. Yolanda, on the other hand, was always whining about how Thalia had cut her off and also being very critical of things Thalia did in her career.)

Because of what had gone before, she said, Las Hijas de la Madre Tierra (Yolanda and Monserrat's show) refrained for the first time from bringing a camera to record, since normally they bring it with them to every event.

Yolanda added that everybody was in such a good mood that she danced "El Mariachi Loco" with Mottola. "I am the worst possible dancer, but I just got carried away. He was super nice. He has to have thought that I was good for dancing and well I'm not.

There were even those, she said, who were so enthusiastic that they sang with the mariachi, like Cantoral and Santamarina.

The same as Andrade, Víctor Noriega, also a friend of the actress since they filmed Rosalinda together, related that the interpreter of "Amor a la Mexicana" radiated happiness. "Despite the fact that she had gotten up very early, (Thalía) looked very happy. She is happy with her new material and super good looking, full of energy and with a great body," expressed the ex-Garibaldi. The actress, he added, arrived on time and in the company of her husband, wearing a sheepskin jacket which she took off in a few minutes in order to reveal a beach shirt that showed off her waist, and pants below the knee.

The menu for the dinner consisted of salads, shrimp, and fish, and there were all types of drinks such as tequila and vodka and plenty of champagne to toast with. Noriega stated that the evening stretched out until nearly 4:30 in the morning of Tuesday, thanks to music of the mariachi and the good feelings of this reencounter of Thalia and her loved ones, hours before even more interviews with the media and returning to New York.

Fans Met With Thalía Up Close and Personal

México City.- Thalía closed her long day of interviews with an encounter with fans from Mexico and South America, whom she thanked for the prayers and demonstrations of affection which she received during the kidnapping of her sisters, Laura Zapata and Ernestina Sodi.

"At this very difficult stage that you went through, our prayers were with you," they told her. "Thank you because we are alive and together," responded the singer, "and your prayers helped my family and now we are a united family."

After having changed her outfit eight times for different television programs, the interpreter of "No Me Enseñaste" arrived at 8:00 p.m. at a salon of the hotel where she was staying, where about 80 followers were waiting for her, some of whom won a contest in a magazine and others from her fan club "Mundo de Cristal". Wearing jeans, blue tennis shoes, a T-shirt, and with her hair loose, the protagonist of María la del Barrio listened to the cheers of her fans from the time of her entrance, several of them residents of Brazil, Argentina, and the interior of Mexico.

Thank you as always for your good selections, for being with me so much time and listening to these songs "México has a diva, what is her name? Thalía!", they shouted in chorus.

"How is everything? How are your lives going? Thank you as always for your good selections, for being with me so much time and listening to these songs", proclaimed the also actress.

She had not even reached her seat when the singer had already received every type of gift, among them a teddy bear, flowers, and even a top made especially for her. "Me pone sexy (It makes me sexy)", said Thalía upon receiving the article of clothing, referring to a phrase in the Spanish version of her new song "I Want You".

Hernán, a young Argentinan, commented that since 1999 he travels to Mexico each time the actress comes for a promotion, just to look at her. "I adore her, I love her. Thalía began to be known in Argentina in 1996, when they broadcast 'María Mercedes', with the song 'Piel Morena', which was a hit there, and since then I adored her. I always come to see her, I pay my passage and everything, only to tell her she is the greatest."

Our Lives revolve around you Thalia !!! The wife of Tommy Mottola posed for souvenir photos, signed autographs, and asked her fans to give her suggestions about how they would like to see her structure her next spectacular, which she hopes to present in Mexico in September. Immediately Thalía had the answer from her followers, who asked her not to forget the hits of Timbiriche, the songs of her "Three Marías Trilogy", and Arrasando, which they themselves began interpreting enthusiastically.

"Our life revolves around you," one fan shouted to her. Upon seeing a young man with photographs of her career all over his body and collections of her records and magazines where she had appeared, the actress thanked him for bringing them for her, they are injections of life and energy.

She said goodbye when 20 minutes had passed.

A Near Perfect Summer Hit

Watch out, J.Lo, Thalia is on your tail. The Latina superstar is readying her long-awaited English debut (as well as a new line of clothing for Kmart), and her first single "I Want You" (Virgin) is 3 1/2 minutes of pure pop pleasure. Teaming up with Fat Joe, Thalia vamps and coos beautifully over a dazzlingly slick, Latin-tinged, hip-hop beat and samples that owe a lot to Big Pun's irrepressible "Still Not a Player" piano loops. A near-perfect summer hit.

Thalía - Handle With Care!

Mexico City. Her attitude is jovial and her outfit casual....but the treatment that she receives is reserved for the highest. Thalía is protected by a contingent of security that is between four to six people outside one of the salons of the Hotel Marriot where she is giving interviews and another four to six who are moving around the set designed especially for TV. Since her sisters, Laura and Ernestina, were deprived of their liberty last September, Thalía has not come to Mexico for professional reasons, and now that she did it, she requested extra protection.

Upon her arrival at the Toluca airport, the singer was protected by four vans which followed her to the hotel where she was lodging together with her husband, music magnate Tommy Mottola. And yesterday, in the interviews that she granted to the communication media, the singer's numerous staff did even the impossible in order to make her feel comfortable, immediately attending to her requests, which were limited to bottles of water and a plate of grapes with various cheeses which the actress left almost untouched. It was sufficient for her to ask if there was water for as many as four assistants, whether from the record label, her management team, or her security personnel, to go running to bring the bottles.

She was disposed to work and to grant as many interviews as they requested of her. After all, it was her first day of promotion in Mexico after a year of absence, and she received all the reporters with a kiss. She always accompanied her answers with a smile, sometimes of pride and others with a touch of irritation, especially when it dealt with her private life and the kidnapping of Laura and Ernestina. But the protagonist of Rosalinda and María Mercedes always tried to steer them toward her new record, which includes songs in English and in Spanish and which will be released on July 12 (Note: We assume this is the date for release in Mexico, as it was previously announced for July 8th in the US.)

"For making this record I focused myself on the deepest thing that I ever experienced, the strongest most negative, in order to transform it into something very positive, full of love and life, and it radiates in every one of the songs."

"Life always confronts you and it is beautiful because how boring it would be if everything were perfect. I believe that every tragic moment of loneliness, of anxiety, of weeping, makes you stronger and makes you find who you really are and where you want to go and what you want to leave and I am in that stage."

Security was at its tightest for her own protetion.

During the interviews that she granted, more that five times she assured that there are no plans to have children soon, more than six times she clarified that she respects the political career of her sister, Laura Zapata, but that hers is in music, and another six times she emphasized that she could care less that people envy her marriage.

"Who cares? We are happier than ever, I feel fortunate to have a person (Tommy Mottola) who has shown he is with me and that in addition he respects how crazy I am to have this career, and my way of being, as well as my vision in music and my facet as an actress."

But what is definitely important to her, she reiterated, is that she feels fulfilled in all aspects of her life, as much in the personal as the artistic, and that in this record she reflects that sentiment. And with the security that she has gained with the years, she added, now she is ready to conquer the Anglo-Saxon market.

"I recorded a record in English and Tagalog eight years ago, but I did not speak English then. Now I have a free teacher at home, so then my English has improved 100%. I feel as happy as a fish in water."

Thalía Has Plans With Robbie Williams

What's in store for Thalia and Robbie? México City.- Mexican singer Thalía said today that she is preparing a surprise along with British entertainer Robbie Williams, although she did not want to reveal in advance what it deals with

"We are in the same record company, he and I met at a party in New York and we have many things in common. He initiated this contact and we are very enthusiastic, there are plans to do something with him," she stated.

Thalía did not want to clarify if in the future she will open some of Robbie William's concerts in Europe, as has been speculated, or if they will record some duo, stating that "it will be known in good time".

The singer, who resides in the United States since marrying music mogul Tommy Mottola, is in Mexico to promote the Spanish songs in her new record Thalía, which is billed as her first English album. She expressed her satisfaction to be in Mexico, "which I have never left..... it is always in my heart."

Concerning the political position that her sister Laura Zapata has taken, as a candidate for Federal Deputy in the elections of June 6th, the singer expressed that she respects Laura's decision and rejects the idea of some day following in the same steps. She explained that her political stand is "to carry much happiness to the people", since she came out of a barrio named Santa María la Rivera to become a successful artist. "I was Thalía la del barrio to convert myself into a glamorous artist.... and who knows how far I will go," she stated.

She indicated that one of her goals as a woman is to have a child, although for the moment she prefers to wait because she has so much work.

The EXA concert was over-sold, leaving many Thalia fans in the street

Mexico City. About 150 fans with a ticket in hand were left with nothing but the hopes that radio station EXA FM would organize one more show so that they could enter the National Auditorium, for which access on Saturday's third and last concert ("Go For Peace") was closed because of over-selling. The show featured appearances by Café Tacuba, Thalía, and Sin Bandera, among others. The public could not even protest to the organizers, who said that they had not given away or sold too many tickets, but that the situation was related to resellers.

Before the concert began at 4:00 p.m., the grounds of the Paseo de la Reforma were closed, leaving outside dozens of young people who waited as long as until 7:00 in hopes of having access to the concert in order to see their artists.

Although she performed with playback, Thalia conquered the audience with songs like "No Me Enseñaste", "Arrasando", and "Toda la Felicidad" (a song which will be included in her upcoming record), and with "A Quién le Importa?", where she was accompanied by more than 13 dancers, 2 female impersonators, and a woman suspended from the roof at the rear of the stage by two straps, while she performed acrobatics.Parts of this concert may be broadcast by Televisa at a later date, enabling fans outside of Mexico to see this exiting performance by Thalia.

She brought the house down with AQLI, NME and a new song from her cross over album

Thalía Wants a México Without Terrorism

Source: Reforma.com, June 1, 2003

TW Correspondent: Tonchi

Mexico City. Thalía, who this past September 22 suffered the kidnapping of her sisters Laura and Ernestina, considers that Mexico is living in the middle of a terrorism which strikes against social peace, and for that reason it is necessary for the people to do away with it.

"I want to see a Mexico more united and clean, but not of filth but of terrorism. Terrorism is not only to crash airplanes into buildings, nor entering into wars, it is also to strike against the integrity, the calm, and the social peace of a country. The change has to begin at this minute," she declared in an exclusive interview.

With respect to the invitation of her sister, Laura Zapata, candidate for federal deputy under the Partido Acción Nacional, to accompany her in some of the events of her campaign, Thalía discounted the possibility.

"She knows that, as her sister, I have my arms open for whatever she wants and needs, I love her deeply. Now, her political career and my career as a singer and actress are going very separate ways. I wish her the best in her campaign, all the luck, happiness, and triumph."

The wife of Tommy Mottola commented that she is apolitical and in her music she prefers to have only positive elements. "I don’t like very much to poke my nose in other people’s business and I am a little bit apolitical," she said.

The singer, who arrived in Mexico City on Friday afternoon, will stay in the city until next Wednesday in order to promote Thalía, the record with which she will accomplish the crossover to the anglo market, assured that she is not afraid of living in Mexico and that he absence has not been what all believe.

"Mexico is my DNA, part of my cells, of what I am as a human being. It is a pride which, wherever I go, people recognize me as Mexican and that my music, in our language, has had the opportunity to reach so far. It‘s good to be once again in my homeland, but I have never left it. Today I am on promotion and under the eye of the cameras, but I always come incognito, without anybody finding out," she assured.

The interpreter of "A Quien le Importa" assured that she has not influenced her family to change their residence to another country, since, she said, each one of the members which make up part is independent and handles their own life as they wish.

About starting her own family, she said that although children are in her plans and her marriage with Tommy Mottola, who also is presently in Mexico, makes her happy, she definitely will not become a mother this year.

The launching of her new English record, on next July 8, holds a special emotion for the singer, since it is the tenth production of her career as a soloist. "The number holds a lot of significant things, it is like a complete circle. I carried a new vibration, a new energy, and it will permit me to open my horizons in another language, a sensational opportunity," commented the singer, who yesterday gave a performance in the National Auditorium during the last concert of EXA FM.

She discarded the idea that her single, "I Want You", which includes elements of rap under the charge of Fat Joe, can be compared with one done by Jennifer Lopez and Ja Rule. "I have had the opportunity in my records to touch all the colors of music, from salsa, rap, rock, hip-hop... I continue having the same essence, but the fusions with R&B, hip-hop, rhythms that are right now hitting very strongly throughout the world, and which I personally adore," she said.

Thalía, who never has presented a concert in form in Mexico City, advanced that she is preparing an "important presentation" in the capital toward the end of the year, but she still does not know where. What is definitely known is that she will be disposed to sing in the Zócalo if she were invited to do it.

"The power to carry joy, music, and entertainment to the people is important for me. If the invitation should arise, I would be happy and I would do it with much pleasure," she concluded.

During her performance in the National Auditorium in the EXA concert yesterday evening, Thalía was dressed in some green pants with thin and shiny stripes and with side pockets, a sleeveless black blouse which she removed to reveal a tight green T-shirt, which was complemented by a red beret and red tennis shoes.

The singer interpreted songs like "No Me Enseñaste" and a song from her new production, "Toda la Felicidad". She shared with her Mexican fans a potpourri of her hits "Piel Morena", "Amor a la Mexicana", and "Arrasando". She closed her performance with "A Quien le Importa", which included 13 dancers, 2 female impersonators, and an acrobat hanging from the ceiling. After receiving her recognition, she returned for a few seconds to the stage holding the hand of her sister Ernestina Sodi.

Toluca, México. Surrounded by a large contingent of security, Thalia arrived in Mexico City yesterday afternoon by private plane, accompanied by her husband, Tommy Mottola. She is scheduled to participate Saturday in the third concert sponsored by radio station EXA104.9 FM, where she will promote her new record.

Aboard an airplane with the registration number N127SR, the singer arrived at the International Airport of Toluca (a suburb of Mexico City) at around 3:00 p.m. Her sister, actress Laura Zapata, was transported in a white Lincoln van, escorted by four other vehicles, to the hotel where Thalia will be lodged until Wednesday, when she returns to the United States.

Gracious to the press although she did not lower the car window due to security concerns.

Despite the fact that representatives from the communication media tried to approach and asked her to lower one of the windows of her van, the singer refused. Instead, she waived amiably and gave them a faint smile.
