Amidst reflectors, high-fashion dresses, and the best smiles they had, the Latin stars shone last night on the red carpet which carried them to the Premio Lo Nuestro.

Figures such as Thalía, Chayanne, Celia Cruz, Carlos Vives, Son by Four, Alex Lora, Daniela Romo, MDO, Los Tigres del Norte, and Banda el Recodo appeared to sing and to be crowned in this awards program which was held in the James L. Knight Center of Miami on Thursday night.

Among the beautiful assistants also stood out Sofía Vergara, Paty Manterola, Adriana Fonseca, Odalys García and Mónica Naranjo. More than 500 fans enjoyed the parade from some stands which the organizers of the event installed in order to give more warmth to the evening. Among unrestrained screams, cheers, and flashbulbs, the famous walked and greeted their public and the communications media.

"Thalía, Thalía!...", "Chayanne, over here!", "To me, to me!", were the screams with which the photographers and paparazzi gained the attention of the famous and captured them as they passed. Thalía was the most solicited of the night, while Chayanne was the one who caused the biggest outburst, although Carlos Vives' followers nearly screamed themselves hoarse

The wife of Tommy Mottola arrived accompanied by her friend and promoter Joe Bonilla, and her "calvo-espaldas" ("bald bodyguard" in English, a word play on the Spanish "guarda-espaldas"), as she had introduced him the evening before the event. The Mexican singer attracted many photo flashes, wearing a discrete bone-colored dress with applications of gold thread and stones. (NOTE: We think the reporter got the Vera Wang dress that Thalía arrived in mixed up with the one which she changed to for watching the performances inside the hall.) A group of fans waited for her with blankets, posters, and flowers, which she gather as she passed. Later on, Thalía took a charro hat and put it on, demonstrating her love for Mexico.

Chayanne arrived after her, catching everybody by surprise with his arrival, but he did not pose as much as the others on the red carpet.

The one who definitely started a carnival with her passing was Celia Cruz, since with her outrageous costume and her attention-grabbing wig, she went along singing and dancing.

Vives arrived accompanied by his wife, a magnificent blond who was the most daring of the evening in wearing a transparent dress.

Joan Sebastian looked elegant in his gray suit, but his face reflected the strain of his illness (cancer).

In order to avoid facing the press, Paulina Rubio did not walk the red carpet and decided to enter the auditorium by another access. The "Chica Dorada", nominated in the category of Best Pop Album, competing with Thalía, Christina Aguilar, and Rocío Dúrcal, asked to sing in the event but that wasn't possible because the numbers that they integrated into the entertainment were already complete. Those who did have the privilege of singing on the stage were Thalía, Daniela Romo, Celia Cruz, Chayanne, Azul Azul, El Recodo, and El Poder del Norte.

The big absences of the night, who despite being nominated did not attend, were Elvis Crespo, Vicente Fernandez, Pepe Aguilar, Christina Aguilera, and Gloria Estefan.

After four hours of entertainment, the famous went to celebrate their prizes at the restaurant and disco Bongos, owned by Emilio and Gloria Estefan.
