Thalía and Paulina Rubio each obtained a single award tonight, but certainly the best prize was the response of the public created by their striking presence in the salon.
The wife of Tommy Mottola shone, and in great form: she mounted a super visual show with her dancers and a stage set which was erected specially for her, all this in order to present her song "Arrasando."
The singer and artist received a special prize awarded by the public, for which she thanked all her admirers for continuing to support her career. "I want to dedicate this recognition to my father, to God, to my boyfriend - well, now my husband - and to all the people who voted for me," she stated with emotion.
Thalía wore three different outfits during the night, one when she arrived (tightly fitting and transparent, in coffee tones, another in the ceremony (1980's style, gold-colored with a wide belt), and still another in order to present her show (a metallic blouse with a pronounced cleavage and leather pants).
Paulina was not required to sing, but by the single act of having won the prize for Best Pop Album of the Year for her album of the same name, and being recognized with an ovation by her peers, one might say that she was also crowned queen of the night.
Touched and surprised by the triumph that she obtained over Luis Miguel, Christina Aguilera, Thalía, Gloria Estefan, and Rocío Dúrcal, the singer stated that to receive this prize was an unexpected and beautiful moment. "Paulina" has sold more than a million copies so far.
