An update on the Wedding Gift for Thalia Fund
When Thalia was married on December 2nd, we were all very happy for her, and many of her fans wanted to express their congratulations and good wishes by means of a gift, a card, or something personal. But how? What do you give a person who has everything?
Even if any of us were rich enough, we would not even be allowed to purchase one of the lavish gifts in her Tiffany registry, that was reserved to wedding guests. But there is another way that the fans could take part, we can give her a gift that will be unique and special.
Our goal is within reach. We fans in La Onda Thalia are pleased to announce that plans are already well advanced toward our goal. A bank account in Mexico City now has sufficient funds to provide toys and other Christmas gifts to disadvantaged children at the Centro de Rehabilitación Infantil, the charity hospital supported by the Teleton in Mexico every year at this time. These gifts will be presented on January 6th, the day of Los Reyes Magos and the time at which most Mexican children receive their presents.

Rather than risk a delay in transferring the contributions which might not be received for a long time due to the mail problems at this time of the year, Tonchi has already obtained the amount which we had estimated would be required. That is why the monetary contributions will go to her, to repay the advance granted by her bank. Anything additional received over $300.00 will be forwarded to Mexico City; if contributions do not reach $300 then Tonchi will have to cover the difference.
Your response has been astonishing. At first we proposed that the suggested contribution should be $2.00, because we want to receive many contributions to show Thalia how many people are thinking of her. But most of you have been sending as much as $20.00 instead. This is truly generous, and we are very proud of your willingness to share with the less fortunate in this Holiday Season.
